2008 Eisteddfod Competitions

*The Crown Competition - PROSE

Write not more than 200 words on the following - in Welsh or English

  1. "Yr Hen Dy" -  It means the old house. You can take it which ever way you want. Myrddin ap Dafydd has a poem where he compares Wales to an old Hall, you could also write about the memories of the rocking chair by the fire etc. Should fit in to Beth's collection of stories.

*The Chair Competition - POEM

Strict meter or free verse - in Welsho or English

  1. Cynefin" - The dictionary gives a definition - familiar habitat/ old area/home land. Basically its what you're used to and feel warm about. The place wraps itself around you like an old cardigan or the arms of your dad in a cwtsh.

NOTE:  We would like the competitions to reflect our Welsh culture - so they should be in Welsh (or English), by someone Welsh or about Wales.
